The online methodology reflects today´s international business environment, where cross-cultural and cross-functional teams work on global projects regardless of their geographic location. You will not have to leave your residence or work for extended periods of time to pursue a truly great learning experience.
The virtual campus, active 24 hour per day, and the case method are the fundamental points of reference for the online activities promoting you to intensively interact and debate with your peers and professors, creating strong and lasting relationships.

Lasting 13 months and starting in February, the program is based on two online training periods and three face-to-face periods, each lasting between one and two weeks, providing you with a deep understanding of business and management and a specialized view in biotechnology.

The three face-to-face periods will be held at the beginning, in the middle and at the end of the program. Two face-to-face periods will be hosted in our Madrid campus and one in Boston, home to the largest concentration of biotech, pharma and related companies in the world.

The week in Boston will allow you to visit some of the most innovative and renowned biotech companies worldwide, such us the Genzyme Center Corporate Headquarters, Novartis, Infinity Pharmaceuticals, and Progenika, You will attend conferences by some of the most important biotech experts worldwide at Harvard Business School.

Additionally you will have the opportunity to interact with top industry leaders throughout the master´s program who will share their real-world experiences, knowledge, and expertise, keeping you up to date with the latest industry developments and providing you with a broad networking base.

The Master in Biotechnology Management will run in collaboration with a variety of organizations in the biotechnology industry.

Activities and projects will be developed around this network of strong industry ties that IE has nurtured since its inception, giving you the opportunity to work on assignments and discuss related issues with key managers and organizations within the industry.

These activities compliment your studies by providing you with first hand exposure to practices in the biotechnology industry, and enabling you to apply the knowledge and skills developed in the program to real-world situations, as well as providing an excellent networking opportunity.

This experience will shape you as a leader in public and private sectors of the biotechnology industry where a combination of business expertise and industry specific knowledge will provide you with a competitive advantage when managing the interface technology, regulatory environment and business.
You will work in a wide range of companies and organizations; from small start-ups to large multinationals, from specialist to R&D intensive, from early-stage biotechnology to mature firms.
Additionally you will be inspired to develop your own entrepreneurial projects within the biotech or related industry.

Our selection process emphasizes leadership potential, strong academic ability, and personal qualities and characteristics. The Admissions Committee will consider candidates with the following requirements:

• A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university (or a degree equivalent to 180 Eurocredits).
• Demonstrated professional experience 
• Proficiency in the English language”
• A complete application including all supporting documents.

In order to evaluate more thoroughly the applicant credentials, the Admission Committee may require the GMAT/GRE/IE Admissions Test and/or the TOEFL examination.

The demanding nature of the Master in Biotechnology Management means that the large number of applications are subject to a rigorous selection process. The main objective of the admissions process is to select students with the highest potential.

Candidates pay a non-refundable application fee of 120 €, to cover administrative costs.

The tuition fees for the Master in Biotechnology Management for the February 2008 intake total 27,000 € + 1,100 € (contribution to the IE Business School Foundation).

Admission is valid for two years, so the successful applicant has up to this limit to reserve place on an intake. In order to secure a place on the Master in Biotechnology Management, intake students are required to make a deposit equivalent to 20% of the total program fees (5,400 €) + the contribution to the IE Business School Foundation (1,100 €).
