The blended methodology reflects today´s international business environment, where cross-cultural and cross-functional teams work on global projects regardless of their geographic location. Participants do not have to leave their residence or work for extended periods of time to pursue a top learning experience.

The virtual campus, active 24 hour per day, and the case method are the fundamental points of reference for the online activities promoting intense interaction and debate with peers and professors, creating strong and lasting relationships.

Lasting 13 months and starting in October, the program is based on two online interactive periods and three face-to-face periods, each lasting between one and two weeks, providing you with a deep understanding of business and management and a specialized view in biotechnology.

The three face-to-face periods are be held at the beginning, in the middle and at the end of the program. Two face-to-face periods are hosted in IE Madrid urban campus and one in Boston, home to the largest concentration of biotech, pharma and related companies in the world.

The week in Boston allow participants to visit some of the most innovative and renowned biotech companies worldwide, such us the Genzyme Center Corporate Headquarters, Novartis, Infinity Pharmaceuticals, and Progenika. Additionally, participants have the opportunity to interact with top industry leaders throughout the Master program, who share their real-world experiences, knowledge, and expertise, keeping students up to date with the latest industry developments and providing them with a broad networking base.

The Master in Biotechnology Management runs in collaboration with a variety of organizations in the biotechnology industry.

Activities and projects are developed around this network of strong industry ties that IE has nurtured since its inception, giving participants the opportunity to work on assignments and discuss related issues with key managers and organizations within the industry.

These activities compliment the studies by providing participants with first hand exposure to practices in the biotechnology industry, and enabling them to apply the knowledge and skills developed in the program to real-world situations, as well as providing an excellent networking opportunity.

This experience behind the IE's Master in Biotechnology Management is designed to shape leaders for the public and private sectors of the biotechnology industry where a combination of business expertise and industry specific knowledge provide professional competitive advantage when managing the technological, regulatory and business environments.

Admitted participants work in a wide range of companies and organizations; from small start-ups to large multinationals, from specialist to R&D intensive, from early-stage biotechnology to mature firms. Additionally, following IE's commitment with entrepreneurship, participants are inspired to develop their own entrepreneurial projects within the biotech or related industry.

Through this intense academic experience, participants end up building a strong network of contacts that includes not only the colleagues of the Master, but also professors, industry specialists, alumni and corporate partners that have supported the IE through the years.

Graduated students from the Master in Biotechnology Management typically advance their careers in either of the following three categories:

- they make the next career move within their organizations,

- they start their own business (e.g., a biotech company),

- they switch careers (e.g., from biotech to venture capital)

To be considered for admission, a candidate must have successfully completed the following prior to submission:

•Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 3 years of professional post‐graduate experience.
• Admission process: application form, admission test (GMAT 600 or IE admission test) and interview.
•Non‐native speakers are required to provide an English language certificate (TOEFL, Pearson PTE Academic, IELTS or Cambridge CAE/CPE).
•Certain requirements may be waived in the case of candidates with outstanding professional experience.

The demanding nature of the Master in Biotechnology Management means that the large number of applications are subject to a rigorous selection process. The main objective of the admissions process is to select students with high potential to over perform in the market.

The tuition fees for the Fall 2012 intake of the Master in Biotechnology Management total €29,200. Fees include:

• All expenses related to learning activities, including, but not limited to: access to relevant technology, multimedia learning tools, conferences, access to physical and digital library resources, and access to the various IE Centers of Excellence
• A contribution to the IE Foundation

Candidates pay a non-refundable application fee of €120 to cover administrative costs. Fees do not include any travel or living expenses.

Admission is valid for two intakes from the date of admission, allowing the successful applicant to plan their learning experience.
