The Master in Biotechnology Management is a 13-month program that consists of a combination of three intensive, face-to-face training periods (each lasting two weeks) separated by two online virtual learning periods (each lasting approximately 22 weeks.). You will therefore be able to follow the program regardless of your geographic location.
The program is divided into two learning modules, both integrating the fundamentals and basic management know-how with the knowledge and management skills required to operate effectively in all areas related to the biotechnology market.
A series of conferences will take place throughout the program (during both the face-to-face, and online periods), which focus on the latest issues and challenges to face professionals in the sector. These conferences will be led and chaired by leaders from the sector, who will share their real-world experiences, knowledge, and expertise with you, keeping the program's finger on the industry's pulse, and keeping you up to date with the latest developments within it as you expand your network of contacts within the industry itself.
The Face to Face periods provide the environment that you will need to work with concepts and skills that require face-to-face interaction between you, the professor and your classmates. These periods consists of seminars focused on skill-building activities, presentations of individual and group projects, and assessment tests to consolidate the work covered over the course of the program.
The biotechnology industry is of global concern and your Master program will reflect that. The first and third Face to Face periods will be held at IE's campus in Madrid and Boston will play host to the second (chosen because it is home to a wealth of prestigious universities with a long history in the field of technology, various advanced research centers and the international headquarters of many of the sector's leading companies)
In this important biotechnology hub, you will have access to some of the industries finest leaders and executives, with whom you will have the opportunity to your exchange views, queries and ideas, as well as to extend your network of contacts.
The Virtual Campus is the focal point for the online activities and serves as a communication platform for the study groups and for teacher-led online sessions. You will participate in online forums and discussions and have easy access to the comments, opinions and experiences of professors and fellow students, as well as general information on the program. These online forums will be active 24 hours a day allowing each person better time management as well as facilitating active participation and contribution.
This asynchronous form of study promotes the free-flowing communication between professors and students, whilst maintaining the flexibility which is so central to the program. You will participate in your own training right from the start of the course: intensive communication and a methodology that hinges on participation guarantees a high level of motivation and commitment to the program.
